New technology will allow Canterbury students to deliver a baby without stepping foot inside a hospital. 

The virtual reality (VR) birthing scenario is being trialled by nursing and midwifery students at Ara Institute of Canterbury this week and will be rolled out officially in early 2020. 

The technology is used with a set of VR goggles, earphones and handheld controllers, which allow the user to take the place of a midwife in a realistic simulation.
