Vidhya Makam

Whānau Tahi
Chief Operating Officer

At the heart of her role as Chief Operating Officer is the management and oversight of the implementation and technical delivery Whānau Tahi Connected Care (WTCC) to customers in New Zealand. Vidhya has over 14 years’ experience in NZ Health IT and was previously the CIO at Hawke's Bay District Health Board where her role focussed on implementing innovative strategic solutions over and above keeping the lights going with operational management of the infrastructure and software solutions.

Vidhya’s passion is in the implementation of digital technologies that can be used to effect improved collaboration, and has a strong understanding of the issues that need to be overcome; legacy and disparate technologies, agreeing standards and processes, integration mechanisms, privacy and security, value for money, and logical sequencing of change.

Vidhya has first-hand appreciation of the spectrum of challenges facing the health sector – technical, clinical, social – and the considerable number of stakeholders involved when dealing with pan-sector change.

Vidhya is a certified PRINCE2 practitioner, with Leadership and Change Management Training and certification from the NZ Institute of Management. She holds a Master’s of Science (Chemistry) degree and is ITIL certified.
