Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer worldwide, with NZ / Australia having the highest rates. Accordingly, colorectal surgery constitutes a massive global health burden and industry, with >130,000 resections per year in the US alone. This proposal seeds a device that addresses one of the most critical pain points for patients and surgeons working with colorectal resections, namely anastomotic leak.
