Accurate evaluation of visual function in young children is highly challenging. There are very few methods available and none of these are suitable for use by health care providers who do not have extensive training in paediatric ophthalmology, optometry and/or visual electrophysiology. We are developing a novel technology that seeks to identify an involuntary, reflexive movement of the eye known as optokinetic nystagmus (OKN) to objectively evaluate visual function in young children.
