About the event

Understand the drivers and processes used to determine economic value and ultimately a health systems’ willingness-to-pay for a healthcare product. This one-day workshop is a one-stop-shop for building and developing health economics literacy.

This highly interactive workshop is intended for decision-makers and organisations wanting to systematically compare technologies that impact patient outcomes, access new markets and secure reimbursement strategies across several healthcare environments and systems.

This workshop will have four quadrants:

  • Building Blocks: Covering key concepts, justifications and methods involved in a health economics approach to capturing and demonstrating value
  • Under the Hood: Explore the process of undertaking an economic evaluation including data collection, literature reviews, and modelling
  • Application: Undertake a health economic evaluation of a medical device. A step-by-step guide that gives organisations a clear understanding of how inputs and outputs are related
  • Decision-Maker Requirements: Explore the health economic requirements of various reimbursement and evaluation organisations such as PHARMAC (New Zealand) and NICE (United Kingdom)

Participants will be encouraged to get their hands dirty, as this workshop requires extensive participation in group exercises, roleplay, and includes plenty of opportunities for questions and discussions.

This workshop is limited to 2 people per start-up/research group to ensure greater opportunity for others to engage.
