About Medtech-iQ Aotearoa

Medtech-iQ Aotearoa is a national medical device and digital health innovation hub. Medtech-iQ Aotearoa provides context, networks and collaborations to support and streamline MedTech innovation and the technology commercialisation journey. By working with existing organisations and partners, Medtech-iQ Aotearoa surfaces the initiatives in place for MedTech innovation and identifies gaps in the ecosystem to develop strategic solutions.

Medtech-iQ Aotearoa comprises four interlinked regional hubs in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland), Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington), Waitaha (Canterbury), and Ōtepoti (Dunedin). Each regional hub offers opportunities for networking, upskilling, and support that are open to all; research communities, clinical communities, and industry.

There are currently two programmes running under Medtech-iQ Aotearoa which you can get involved with – Te Tītoki Mataora, the MedTech Research Accelerator and the Australia-New Zealand BioBridge.

  • Te Tītoki Mataora, the MedTech Research Translator, consists of two linked programmes that encourage collaboration for the development, testing and translation of ideas into sustainable clinical solutions. The Research Accelerator Programme is a contestable fund for early-stage medical technologies working towards clinical application and commercialisation. The HealthTech Capability Programme offers workshops, expert office hours, networking opportunities and other resources to support the commercialisation journey for medical technologies.
  • The Australia-New Zealand BioBridge connects the two health innovation ecosystems across the Tasman through curated workshops and delegations that initiate conversations and build anchored science and business partnerships.

Everyone is welcome to be a part of Medtech-iQ Aotearoa. Visit the Consortium for Medical Device (CMDT) website or subscribe to the MedTech Research Network mailing list to stay up to date with events, workshops, and funding rounds.
