HealthTech Week 27 – 30 June 2022


Registration is now open for HealthTech Week 2022!


Titled 'Aotearoa - A Revolution in Health', this year's HealthTech Week will delve into all aspects of the New Zealand Health Reforms and what these changes mean for the health sector and health tech industries. The CMDT and Aotearoa Brain Project 'Te Tītoki Mataora Forum' from 28-30 June is a new translational research initiative to advance Aotearoa’s capability in medtech translation, and accelerate clinical and commercial opportunities into sustainable ventures that contribute to Aotearoa’s health and economic growth.




Calls for Applications

  • CMDT Early-Career Researcher Awards The Te Tītoki Mataora Forum held during Healthtech Week includes the TTM Research Day (29th June) which celebrates emerging researchers and new research frontiers. Research posters will be on display throughout the week, and presented for judging on TTM Research Day. The authors of the best abstracts will also be invited to give a 3-minute elevator pitch of their research. Both of these provide opportunities to win cash prizes sponsored by CMDT! The CMDT Early-Career Researcher Awards are open to PhD students and EMCRs (<10 years post-PhD) engaged in research and development of medical related technologies and/or brain research. Submit 200-word abstracts to medtechresearchnetwork@auckland.ac.nz by 4pm Friday 20 May 2022 using this template.


  • Education NZ Programmes for Project-Related Personal Exchange (PPP) Under a new bilateral exchange arrangement, Education New Zealand supports early-career researchers from New Zealand to collaborate on research projects in Germany. You can find more information about the programme, application requirements, and the link to the application portal on the Education NZ website: New Zealand-German academic exchange programme » Education NZ (enz.govt.nz). Submissions close 30 June at 11:59 PM.

  • TTM Commercial Translation Speaker Series Open-Mike: What Investors are Looking For Tuesday 3rd May 12pm – 1pm Raising capital is a key portion of any healthtech commercialisation journey but understanding the investor landscape and knowing where to begin can be difficult to determine. Last Thursday we had a great discussion with Will Charles, Tamsin Bateman and Jackson Rowland about the different types of investment for healthtech start-ups; watch the recording here if you missed it.   • TTM Manaaki Sessions for Clinicians and Researchers Next session 12th May 7pm Who are you as a Tiriti partner and how does Te Tiriti apply to your research and/or clinical work? The manaaki sessions are a safe online space for both Māori and non-Māori alike to participate in open discussions around our understandings and experiences of Te Tiriti.
