  • Pacific Engagement & Commercial Translation SPEAKER SERIES: Health & Technology: The importance of having a Pacific lens Wednesday 7th September 12pm-1pm

Pacific peoples make up 8% of the total New Zealand population, yet they experience some of the worst health inequities in the country. With medical technologies reshaping the future of healthcare delivery in New Zealand, there is an opportunity to improve Pacific health outcomes, as noted in the Ola Manuia Pacific Health Action Plan (2020-2025). In the development of such technologies, it is vital Pacific Peoples’ health and wellbeing perspectives are considered throughout the design and implementation process.


Join us for an exciting Zoom talanoa (conversation) with three Pacific leaders in health, wellbeing, and community engagement to learn more. The Future Leaders Module will also be showing this at the Auckland Bioengineering Institute to provide early-career researchers with an opportunity to network (and lunch!). This workshop series has been designed by Moana Connect for delivery to our health and medtech communities in Aotearoa. The series aims to develop attendees’ awareness, understanding, and responsiveness to the needs of Pacific communities.

  • TIN 2022 NZ Healthtech Insights Report Launch Wednesday 31st August 6pm, Orion House, Auckland Gather your team and join TIN and CMDT to celebrate the launch of the highly anticipated 2022 New Zealand Healthtech Insights Report. After the successful launch of the first edition in 2020, this year's report will provide another in depth look at New Zealand's largest secondary tech sector. Find out more and register here.

  • Healthtech Innovation Survey Online survey The Emerging Health Technology & Innovation team are looking to hear from people working in or with the public health sector at a national, regional or local level. We would like to find out who our innovative colleagues are, what you are working on, how you define innovation, and most importantly… how we can support you! Access the survey here.

  • Māori/Pacific Research Assistant position at the University of Auckland We seek to take a multi-disciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of tinnitus. This project has hardware and software engineers working alongside clinicians, researchers, and social workers in order to transfer the learnings from research being done in labs to benefit people in the wider society. The successful candidate will work with the research team to ensure the appropriateness of use/cultural acceptability of the device amongst Pasifika and/or Māori community groups.
